Meet The Cast

Iris is Other Self, Other Self is Iris, they are one person at different stages of their own life. Iris represents them before accepting who they are, while Other Self them after. Living a lie versus living your truth. It’s truly so important to me that this idea is properly communicated. I do think a major way this will come across is through the use of the same actor for both Other Self and Iris. That visualisation should make it clear enough for an average audience member to understand that they are the same, just at different points emotionally.

Due to the different emotional states of the characters it’s easier for Other Self to offer space for Iris, because they know who they are, and have been where they were. If I could go back I would want to support the younger version of me through their transition, but I know that he needs to figure things out on his own. Which is why Other Self disappears, they offer enough to Iris to get them to their breaking point, but have to let them come to terms with everything on their own.
