I got into this craft because the stories I wanted to tell weren’t being told on the big screen, and that hasn't changed much. There are so few stories about trans people in mainstream media, and if they do exist they mostly centre the oppression we face. They’re made with the intention of being palatable to a larger audience. Lacking complexity to fit a narrative that cis people can understand. I’m not gonna do that. Never in my life have I wanted to make anything “palatable” to others, and The Call is no different.
